● Teach and educate medical students, residents, and fellows in the principles and
practices of pathology
● Develop course content, prepare lectures, lead seminars, and provide individual
instruction and feedback to students
● Conduct research in area of expertise, publish scholarly articles and books, and present
findings at academic conferences
● Provide clinical services in pathology, including examining tissue and body fluid
specimens and consulting with clinicians on diagnosis and treatment
● Participate in clinical and laboratory quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy of diagnoses
● Contribute to academic community by serving on committees, participating in
departmental and institutional events, and engaging in outreach activities
● Mentor and supervise junior faculty, residents, and fellows, and provide guidance for
their professional development
● Seek and secure funding for research projects and prepare grant proposals.
